IT WASN'T TRADITION by a. intisar turner
When a young butterfly decides to take flight, she is met with much opposition because she lives in a world where female butterflies are not allowed to fly. It Wasn't Tradition is a story that is full of inspiration and humor, as it brings light to some of the challenges one may face when trying to break a long held, but not necessarily good tradition. Read It Wasn't Tradition to see how one butterfly named Okra becomes a hero for girls around the world.
" We are protecting the women from being battered and torn. Tradition restricted women to crawl through life as if they were still in caterpillar form."
Gender Equality is everyone's issue. Even when intentions are good, many girls often lack access to education and basic human rights. Girls are our future mothers, sisters, aunts, thinkers and innovators. Why not celebrate all the great things about girls?
It Wasn't Tradition donates $1 from each hardcover book sold to non-profit organizations dedicated to helping girls. Check out some great organizations we have already donated to.
