A. Intisar Turner was born in New York and grew up in Boston where she went to Latin Academy. She graduated from Boston College, then went on to teach. She is a poet, writer and loves basketball. She is an activist for girls and women rights. "It Wasn't Tradition" is her first children's book to help empower girls. She also published "Love Inspired" and "The Ripped Pages," compilations of inspirational poetry. She secretly loves children and doing good.
